Read, amigo! Bilingual literacy program aims to engage parents and kids


Five years ago, executives at an insurance company were surprised to find out from one of their employees that some parents didn’t read to their children at home because of poor English skills. So the company, which services urban areas with a high number of Spanish speakers, decided to refocus its educational outreach. Thus, Read Conmigo, a free pre-kindergarten through fifth grade bilingual literacy program, was born.

Since 2011, Read Conmigo has distributed over one million free books, apps, and online resources to parents and classrooms with the mission of promoting bilingualism.

The latest additions to Read Conmigo’s catalog are available in digital form to students, parents and teachers who are signed up for the program.

Read Conmigo and Antonio Sacre Celebrate Bilingual Literacy Month with Los Angeles Students


Read Conmigo celebrated Bilingual Literacy Month in May at Ford Boulevard Elementary School with acclaimed author and storyteller Antonio Sacre. Students received a free book and activity kit. Mr. Sacre read the story in Spanish and English as the students followed along in their books. Students enjoyed interacting with Mr. Sacre and receiving the book and activity kit. Video Spanish only
